Pierce Named To Jug Wall Of Fame

Four-time Little Brown Jug champion driver Ron Pierce has been selected as the 34th Little Brown Jug Wall of Fame Honouree by the Delaware County Fair.

Pierce, 62, scored back-to-back Jug wins in 1998 and 1999 with Shady Character and Triple Crown winner Blissfull Hall. He returned to the Jug winner’s circle in 2004 with Timesareachanging and in 2009 with Well Said.

The native of California owns an impressive Universal Drivers Rating of .417 in 49 Little Brown Jug starts, and he ranks second in Jug earnings with $1.7 million. Of his 42 career wins at the Delaware County Fair, 34 of them came in stakes competition, including 13 in the Little Brown Jug and nine in the Standardbreds.

Pierce retired from racing with 9,570 career wins and $215 million in purse earnings. He was enshrined into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in Goshen, N.Y. in 2005.

Pierce will be presented the Wall of Fame jacket and wall plaque during the 2018 Little Brown Jug week (September 16-20).
