GRR Preferred To Up The Credit

Up The Credit toyed with the six foes he tackled in Wednesday $11,000 Preferred 2 at Grand River Raceway, and his clocking of 1:53 was the quickest mile of the season at the Elora half-miler.

Up The Credit shot to the top from Post 2 and successfully chopped out splits of :27.1, :55.3 and 1:24 before using a :29-second closing quarter to win by a pair of lengths over Mach Of Ballykeel. My Friend Diaz rallied late and took home the show dough.

Jody Jamieson engineered the winning trip for the six-year-old son of Western Terror-Cantbuymehappiness. Trainer Carl Jamieson co-owns the classy campaigner with Tom Kyron, Brian Paquet and Joanne Morrison. It was the second win of the season for the 14-time winner who boosted his bankroll to $1,316,998 with the victory.

Red Magician worked his way to the front despite starting from the second tier in the $7,000 Preferred 3 for pacers, and once he got to the lead he didn’t look back. The four-year-old son of Badlands Hanover-Frankly Annie ripped through panels of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26 before scooting home in :29.2 to stop the teletimer in 1:55.2. Astute came first-over and held on for the runner-up award, while I C D Moolah finished third.

Paul MacKenzie of Puslinch, Ontario owns, trains and guided the pacer to the win. The tally improved this year’s record to 3-4-2 from 18 trips postward and the lion’s share of the purse boosted his bankroll to $66,499.
