Turn N Dance erased a 7-1/2-length deficit over the back half to gain his first career victory in Friday’s Pop Up Series for freshman colt and gelding pacers at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Stay Frosty and Bettor Sea dead-heated for win in the other $10,000 opening-leg division.
Brady Brown moved Turn N Dance (pictured above) first up and the son of Rocknroll Dance-Turn Her Ingo out-kicked Aintbluenomore to score by a length in 1:55.1, with Believe It Sea It third. Roger Hammer owns, trains and bred Turn N Dance.
Bettor Sea led Stay Frosty by 1-1/2 lengths for Mike Wilder out of the final turn, but the son of Stay Hungry-Mintjulep Bluechip doggedly gained ground for Jeremy Indof. The two were inseparable at the wire, stopping the timer in 1:56. Steely Knife completed the ticket.
Ron Burke trains Stay Frosty for Burke Racing Stable, Kitefield Stable, Phillip Collura and J&T Silva-Purnel & Libby. Randy Bendis conditions Bettor Sea, a Downbytheseaside-Bettor Think Twice gelding, and owns with Reed Broadway and Pollack Racing LLC.
Wilder collected four wins on the 12-race card while Bendis enjoyed a triple.
Saturday’s 14-race program at The Meadows features a pair of stakes for freshman filly trotters — a $162,944 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and an $80,000 PA Stallion Series event. In those eight divisions, 54 youngsters will get their first taste of stakes action.
On the wagering front, the card offers an $818.79 carryover in the Pick 5 (race 10). First post is 12:45 p.m.
