The race office staff at Mohawk Racetrack will close the entry box for Saturday’s Burlington Stakes card on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m., and after watching Warrawee Legend perform on Monday evening it is probably safe to
say he’ll be headed in that direction.
Warrawee Legend, a three-year-old son of Dragon Again who is 90-1 in Trot Magazine's Pepsi North America Cup 2010 Spring Book, went wire-to-wire in his $17,000 conditioned assignment for the tandem of driver Rick Zeron and trainer Claude Cadieux.
The colt was hustled through fractions of :27.1, :55.2 and 1:25 before lifting up anchor and setting sail. He stormed home in :27.1 to seal the deal in a career-best clocking of 1:52.1. It was more than four lengths back to runner-up S N P Bluechip, with Alfredsson finishing third.
Gestion Jean Yves Blais of Montreal, QC holds the papers on the colt, who went 1-for-7 as a rookie. So far this year he has managed to pick up a win and a third-place finish in just two attempts.
