Officials with Harness Racing BC have released the details of its 2017 Horse Population Incentive Program.
Harness Racing BC has announced that its intention is to stabilize and increase the horse population for the fall racing season that will commence in October 2017 and for the future growth of the harness racing industry in BC.
In keeping with the commitment to continue to increase the horse population for the Standardbred racing industry in BC, Harness Racing BC recognizes the importance of horses committed to racing at Fraser Downs.
Horses must be entered to race at least once in the first two weeks of racing in the month of October 2017 and commit to racing for the meet at Fraser Downs. A letter of commitment to race the horse at Fraser Downs must be signed upon application for the receipt of the $750 Horse Racing Starting Incentive, payable after the horse has made the first start.
Two-year-olds are excluded from the Horse Population Incentive Program. If the horse leaves prior to January 1, 2018, then a repayment of the funds will be required.
