According to Retromedia Publishing of Charlottetown, Behind the Gate, by Paul Murphy of Prince Edward Island, has now reached best seller status in Atlantic Canada
with over 2,100 sold.
The book was released on December 4, 2008 to a packed reception of 200 people at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Days later the first printing was sold out. Now in its third printing, Behind the Gate recently garnered a Heritage Award from the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation.
“I’m humbled by Behind the Gate’s success. I never dreamt of it,” Murphy
mentioned. “I’m astonished and very thankful considering that initially we planned on only printing 300.”
The book is available now at most Canadian racetracks, the Harness Racing Hall of Fame and Museum in Goshen, New York, and at Indigo, Chapters and Coles bookstores across Canada. Online, Behind the Gate can be purchased at www.retromedia.ca and at www.chapters.indigo.ca.
