Trainer Melissa Beckwith posted similar results between the first two days of weekend cards at Saratoga Casino Hotel with a training triple both days, including a win in the $17,000 Winners Over/Open Handicap with Angel Nation on Sunday afternoon (June 4).
Driver Brett Beckwith and Angel Nation (pictured above) were parked to the quarter in :28 before assuming control of the field in Sunday's feature. The pair never looked back from there as they set the tempo through fractions of :57.2 and 1:26.1 before sailing home to a 6-1/2-length victory in 1:54.4. The Royal Poze (Mitchell Cushing) was second and Bourbon Express (John Stark Jr.) finished third.
Angel Nation earned his 24th career win, which put him over $400,000 in lifetime earnings. William Hartt owns the six-year-old gelded son of Archangel.
Chapheart and Ackles Hanover also won on the matinee card to round out Melissa Beckwith's training triple.
Brett Beckwith drove all three of the winners and closed in on 500 career wins after piloting Mr Cool Seaeyre N to victory for trainer Brett Derue. The 20-year-old reinsman is now just two away from that mark.
