Ont. Fans Flocking To Hazel Park

The CBC has reported that Canadian fans of live harness racing have been making the trip across the border to Hazel Park in Michigan to catch live racing since the closure of Windsor Raceway.

"It only takes 15 minutes to get from downtown Windsor to Hazel Park Raceway. I think because of that, we've had an increase in the number of patrons, whatever number that may be," Hazel Park Race Secretary Ladd Biro was quoted as saying.

The report has also states that American racegoers used to travel from south of the border to watch the live racing that Windsor had offered for years.

"I love Windsor Raceway. It had a combination of the races and the slots," said Russell Cooper, who used to make the trek into Canada with his wife to take in Windsor racing.
