According to an article on njbiz.com, the New Jersey State Assembly is considering legislation which would allow the reduction of standardbred race dates in the state
.
The report indicates that under the bill the Meadowlands Racetrack would be able to host as few as 141 race dates -- down from the current minimum of 151 -- and Freehold Raceway would be able to hold 168 dates -- down from 192.
The bill requires the horsemen’s organizations to agree to any reduction in race dates.
