The Tuesday (June 30) card at Woodbine Mohawk Park featured two events for two-year-olds—one for pacing fillies and one on the trot.

Sports Check pulled an upset in the $15,000 event for two-year-old pacing fillies, ripping to the lead and drawing clear to a 1:52.4 score.

Game Of Shadows—sent the odds-on favourite—swept to command before a :27.2 first quarter with Lady Arthur settling for the pocket. Driver Doug McNair landed Sports Check in third and stayed put with the Sportswriter filly as Game Of Shadows hit the half in :56.2. Into the final turn McNair gave Sports Check her cue, recouping three lengths rounding three-quarters in 1:25.2 and sliding to the lead turning into the stretch. From there the Blake MacIntosh trainee opened on Lady Arthur taking second, two-and-a-half lengths behind, with Saulsbrook Easy giving chase in third.

Owned by Frugal Not Cheap Stable, the $15,000 Lexington Select purchase won in her first pari-mutuel start, collecting $7,500 in earnings. She paid $26.90 to win.

In the trotting event Tokyo Seelster fought to maintain control through the mile and did so to the finish, holding to win by a neck in 1:58.

Trainer-driver Robert Robinson pushed the Kadabra colt for the front passing a :29.3 first quarter and cleared command from Royal Tyrone moving to the backside. Tokyo Seelster then strolled through a 1:00.1 half, but odds-on favourite Walkonthemoon rolled from fifth—seven lengths off the lead—to blitz Tokyo Seelster moving to three-quarters.

Walkonthemoon stuck a head in front past three-quarters in 1:29.2 and held a slim lead into the stretch. Tokyo Seelster gave chase to the inside and regained control while Walkonthemoon hung and Royal Tyrone rallied off a pocket trip heading to the finish. Royal Tyrone closed quickest but missed victory narrowly and settled for second while Walkonthemoon finished third.

A $52,000 purchase from the 2019 London Selected Sale for Michael and Sam Sergi, Tokyo Seelster broke his maiden in his first start, earning $7,500. He paid $12.20 to win.
