Twenty-two sophomore trotting colts and geldings shipped to Mohawk Racetrack for an OSS Gold Series showdown, and driver Chris Christoforou stole the show.

The southpaw took both $105,000 divisions thanks to sharp efforts from Dont Rush and Muscle Up The Goal.

Dont Rush left quickly from Post 9 in the first division, but he found himself parked past the quarter pole in :27.2. Platoon Seelster delivered the first fraction, but he quickly took a backseat to Dont Rush in the backstretch. Dont Rush supplied middle splits of :56.3 and 1:26.2 before storming home in :28.1 to win by four lengths over Eternal Quest in 1:54.3. Taking home the show dough was Caulfield.

Sent off at odds of 9-2, Dont Rush improved his 2015 record to 2-0-1 from four tries with the victory. Dustin Jones trains the homebred son of Infinitif-Color Me Pretty for Dustin Jones Stables Inc of Waterdown and Greg Judson of Athens, Ontario. The lion’s share of the loot lifted the sophomore’s overall bankroll to $360,885.

Muscle Up The Goal used a come-from-behind approach to give Christoforou the OSS double on the Tuesday evening card. The son of Muscle Mass-Tags Goal got away fifth before working out a third-over trip. Raising Richard got away with sensible fractions of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:27.2, but he lacked staying power and faded. Muscle Up The Goal roared off cover and fired home in :27.3 to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Madman Hall in 1:55.4. Rubber Duck was a bang-up third.

Synerco Ventures Inc of Toronto, Ontario owns the colt who is now 2-for-4 this season and 4-for-7 in his career. The lightly-raced trotter has managed to stash away $150,600 to date.

Tuesday’s card also featured a talented group of two-year-old pacers, and Arsenic turned in an eye-catching victory in his debut for trainer Scott McEneny and driver Doug McNair.

The son of Bettors Delight-Shes Poison was treated to a ground-saving trip for the first half of the contest before being called into first-over duty going into the final turn. Race favourite Southwind Mayhem had things his own way on the lead through middle fractions of :59.2 and 1:28.1, but he couldn’t fend off the late pressure from Arsenic. The gelding blasted home in :26.1 to win by three-quarters of a length over Southwind Mayhem. Bingo Ingo rounded out the top three finishers.

Brad Grant, Teresa Davidson and Michelle McEneny share ownership on the precocious pacer, who is a grandson to the multi-talented Shes A Great Lady (1:50.4 – $973,382). The rookie was a $25,000 purchase from last fall’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale.
