Arsenault Reaches 2,500-Win Milestone

Driver Kenny Arsenault recorded his 2,500th career win during a 12-dash program Thursday night at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving

Park.

The Charlottetown native drove his trainee Captain And Wine, owned by local resident Cindy Coady, to victory in Race 6. The time of the mile was 2:00.4. Coady, and her husband Maurice, are good friends with Arsenault and were in the winner's circle for the occasion. Managing director Tom Mullally and race manager Brett Revington were also trackside to present a special banner to mark the milestone.

J K Special, with Walter Cheverie in the bike, won the featured $2,200 Mares Open Pace in 1:57 flat for owner-trainer Joe Smallwood of Stratford, P.E.I. Cheverie sent the six-year-old homebred Cammibest-J K Beauty mare right to the front and carved out fractions of :28.2, :59.3 and 1:27.4 en route to claiming his third win of the night. It was J K Special's fourth win of the season in 12 starts. La Pensee Du Jour (Jason Hughes) was second with Troxell Hanover (Earl Smith) completing the triactor.
