Machthemoment Wins; Grand Slam For Lambert Jr.

Machthemoment fashioned a front-end score in Wednesday night’s featured Preferred Pace at St. John’s Racing & Entertainment Centre while trainer-driver Dennis Lambert Jr. put up some impressive numbers during the eight-race program

Machthemoment and trainer-driver Rod Forward left from Post 3 in the $640 event and carved out fractions of :29, :58.3 and 1:30 before drawing away by four lengths in the stretch and hitting the wire in 2:02.2. Canadian Mint (Colin Sheppard) inherited the runner-up spot and Jerry Mcguire (Scott Forward) was bumped to third due to a judges' placing of breaker The Usual Suspect (Wayne Williams).

Machthemoment paid $9.90 to win as 7-2 fourth choice. The six-year-old son of Mach Three-Memorable Moments has won two of six races so far this season and has yet to finish off the board for owners Jeanette Newell of Coleys Point South and Justin Newell of North Valley, NL.

In other action, trainer-driver Dennis Lambert Jr. won half of the races on Wednesday’s card. Muzzys Wink (2:07.1) and Shes Alittlefussy (2:09.2) gave Lambert back-to-back wins in the first two races while Muzzysenglishbaby (2:04.1) and Dusty Lane Mickey (2:08) were triumphant in Races 5 and 6.

Lambert, a winner of 74 races as trainer and 44 as driver, doubled his 2010 totals with the grand slam.
