As the calendar changes from May to June, “two-year-olds in training “ change into two-year-old qualifiers. Five trotting and four pacing qualifiers highlighted the Hollywood Casino at The Meadows qualifiers on Tuesday, June 3.
Ron Burke led all trainers with 20 two-year-olds making their racing debuts. From those 20 starters were four pacing winners and a single trot win.
Sarahs Mission, a homebred daughter by Mission Accepted out of Petey Sarah, was the sole trot winner for Burke on the day and the fastest two-year-old trotter of the day as well. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. raced the freshman filly off cover to trot home in :28.4 for the victory in 2:01.2.
The pacing side of the day for Burke Racing started off with Tell It Like This, a neck winner over stablemate Jen Tilly. The Tellitlikeitis-
Atomic Fireball filly paced the mile in 2:01.3 with a final panel of :28.
Shehasarealenergy and Artie Dick made up four lengths at the top of the stretch with a :28.1 finale as the Papi Rob Hanover-Real Fine filly won by length in 2:01.2.
Summa Wrestler, driven by Chris Page, was winner number four for Burke. Sitting fifth at the half, the Summa Cum Laude-
Bettim Jackie colt paced home :28.4 for the 2:00.2 win.
Bradley Burke gave trainer and dad his fifth win of the morning and the fastest two-year-old qualifier of the day. Sitting in the pocket through soft fractions, What Nooo Way, a son of Check Six-Tiffany Rocks As , sprinted home in :27.1, a length and a half winner in 1:57.2.
Trainer/driver Vernon Beachy and owner Ryan Smith teamed up for a pair of trotting winners. Victorians Secret's :28.1 last quarter put the daughter of Tactical Landing-Victoriana two lengths the best in 2:03.2. Darlin Boy, a Muscle Hill- Oh My Darlin colt, took the lead at the top of the stretch, trotting home in :29.4 to win in 2:05.2.
Another Chance, bred and owned by Jon Erdner and George Romanoff, cut the fractions on the way to a 2:03.2 first outing with Andrew Naser in the bike. The Enterprise-A Fair Chance filly, trained by Norm Parker, trotted her back half in a minute and final quarter in :29.
Harlem Hanover, a Bar Hopping-Hallance colt, was able to avoid a breaker in the last turn on his way to a head victory in 2:04. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. drove the colt for trainer William Daugherty. Susan Daugherty shares ownership with Perry Wilson of New York.
Live harness racing for the week at The Meadows kicks off on Wednesday, June 4 at 12:45 p.m.
