Alliance Final To The Prophet Mary

The Prophet Mary turned a two-hole trip into a one-length triumph in Monday evening’s $11,200 Alliance Series Final for filly and mare claimers at Grand River Raceway.

Driver J Harris and The Prophet Mary were able to draft in the garden spot behind Total Knockout through panels of :27.4, :58.1 and 1:27.3 before angling out of the pocket and cruising home in :31.1 to win in 1:59 over race favourite Anamazingdream Esa and Imnotamirage.

Jim Watt trains the seven-year-old daughter of Million Dollar Cam-Proxahantis for Rebecca Williamson of Blyth, Ont. It was the second win of the year for the 31-time winner who lifted her lifetime earnings to $168,512 with the score.

In Secret, who hadn’t raced since April for trainer Per Henriksen, captured the $11,000 Preferred 2 for trotters in 1:59.1.

Bob McClure sent the favourite to the early lead, and after chopping out splits of :29.2, 1:00.1 and 1:29.1 he managed to fire home in :30 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Delcrest Massy. Oaklea Wyatt rounded out the top three finishers.

Andrea Lea Racingstables Inc and ASA Farm share ownership on the four-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe-Secret Magic. The nine-time winner has banked $143,990 to date.

Massive Muscles was a wire-to-wire winner in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters for trainer Paul Walker.

In rein to co-owner ‘Bert’ Renaud, the five-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Flirting Lavec ripped through fractions of :28.4, :58 and 1:28.3 before stepping home in :31.1 to win by 5-1/4 lengths over Excellence in 1:59.4. Taking home the show dough was Winzel.

It was the third win of the season – and the eighth to date – for the career winner of $146,049. Julie Walker of Carlisle, Ont. shares ownership on the gelding.
