Making his debut for trainer Nathan Sobey in Wednesday night's (June 26) $7,200 featured pace at Century Downs, Freedoms Fellow ($17.60) vaulted from the pocket to post a 3-1/4 length victory.

With stablemate Southwind Jenson breaking stride at the start, Freedoms Fellow and driver Paul Davies were able to follow Silent Rescue (David Kelly) up the pegs to secure the pocket into the first turn, and they remained there through splits of :28.3, :57.4 and 1:25.4. As 5-2 favourite Veneno (Jamie Gray) pressed into a narrow lead on approach to the final turn, Davies switched Freedoms Fellow three-wide — and the five-year-old Freedoms Pass gelding kicked immediately into high gear.

Freedoms Fellow surged to the lead off the home turn and drew away for a 1:54.3 score, his first of the season and the ninth of his career. Veneno protected second, while Marlons Magic (Mike Hennessy) stayed on for third after gapping cover up the backstretch.
