Veteran driver Jack Moiseyev, a familiar face on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit, has been sidelined since Thursday, June 21, but hopes to return to the sulky mid-week.
Moiseyev was involved in a pre-race on-track incident this past Thursday at Mohawk, when he was dumped from the race bike after he and Mary Legatto were run into by Good Luck Kathy and driver Mario Baillargeon.
Baillargeon and both two-year-old pacing fillies escaped injury. Moiseyev, however, booked off his remaining drives. It turned out that the reinsman had aggravated an old injury.
“I injured my mid-back,” said Moiseyev. “I sprained some muscles in the area and had a disk move a little bit. I had a little disk (issue) from 20 years ago, and that’s the one I kind of aggravated.
“I am feeling a little better,” he continued. “I have been going to a great chiropractor (Laura Dobrinsky) in Waterdown.”
Moiseyev is optimistic about returning for a trio of Ontario Sires Stakes Gold eliminations at Flamboro Downs, but says he won’t overdo it.
“I am getting better every day,” he said. “I am planning on coming back Wednesday and I’ll just race a few here and a few there. I am going to start back at Flamboro. I got some Gold races over there for two-year-old trotting colts.
Moiseyev also noted that he plans to drive Imtoocutetobebad, a rookie pacing filly, in a Gold elimination on Thursday night at Mohawk.
