Round two of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes action for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings highlighted the 12-race card on Monday, June 23 at Harrington Raceway.
Forrest Bartlett's Primo Maschio ($2.10) was a 1:53 winner in the first $29,397 DSBF split as the heavy favourite over Shore Not Beach (Pat Berry) and Big Hunk A Money (Jason Thompson). The Badlands Hanover-Primadonna gelding cruised to an open-length win, his 14th in 17 career starts. Trae Porter drove the winner for trainer Walter Callahan.
Conor Brewer's Wyatt Earp ($37.80) and driver Allan Davis sprung an upset in the second split, using a pocket trip to emerge with a razor thin margin at the wire over popular pacesetter Lew Not Lou (Ross Wolfenden). Our Perfect Aim (Barton Dalious) was third. The Classic Card Shark-Rockn Ruby N gelding recorded his second career win in 22 starts for trainer Jason Skinner.
The top eight point earners from the two rounds of DSBF eliminations will compete in a $110,000 USD final on July 17.
In the $24,658 Open Pace, Carlo Poliseno and Todd Burger's Double Metal ($15) notched his second win in his last three starts with a dominant front-end score in 1:50.1. Driven by Cody Poliseno, the seven-year-old Betting Line-Double Creme gelding was an open-length winner over Downers Delight (Pat Berry) and Wager On Me (Jason Thompson).
