Equine Search And Rescue Team?

Bloodhounds are known all over the world for their ability to sniff out humans and wild animals. Although horses also have a tremendous sense of smell, most people don't associate the equine with 'air scenting.'

An article by The Spokesman-Review explains that it recently took an Appaloosa gelding named 'Joker' just two minutes and 20 seconds to find a carefully-placed volunteer in a 13-acre, semi-wooded area in Terrebonne, Oregon.

The report states that Joker's performance piqued the interest of Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkins. “They’ve definitely got my attention,” Adkins was quoted as saying. “That was a pretty difficult search because the wind kept changing on us. That horse just went right over there and zigged and zagged and zoomed right in.”

The article states that a loosely-based organization is hoping to assemble a team of 12 horses and riders that will be deployed when hiker, hunters, etc. go missing.
