On Tuesday, Dan Gall was announced as the new President & CEO of Standardbred Canada. Gall joins SC with more than 15 years leadership experience in the gaming industry. Since 2000, he has served OLG Slots in general management roles in seven different locations, including Western Fair District, Woodbine, Kawartha Downs, Hiawatha, and Clinton. As General Manager, he had responsibility for implementing and successfully managing the annual strategic plan, broad-based operational and fiscal management responsibility which includes support for the horse racing industry through racing events, marketing and industry relations.
Gall told Trot Radio's Norm Borg that the learning curve for him would be steep but welcomed the challenge.
"I know there's a wealth of knowledge out there to be tapped into. And that's the skill set that I believe I'll be bringing to Standardbred Canada: my ability to lead teams, to develop relationships and to strategic plan going forward on what our members, our customers are looking for, and the direction that they want to give us -- which they think Standardbred Canada needs to be doing going forward."
Gall credits harness racing with giving him his start with the OLG back in 2000 at the Clinton location and was immediately impressed by the work ethic and passion of our participants. "I've never seen a more passionate and committed group of people than I have in the horse racing industry."
When given the chance to address the industry, Gall gave a glimpse into what people can expect from him over the next few months.
"It would certainly be eyes wide open and ears wide open going forward for the next several months, noted Gall. "I want to get out and talk to the people that have a voice, that want to let me know their thoughts. I want to be available for not only my direct team but my customers and our members going forward.
"This is going to be a great opportunity to put things on the table, sort things out as a team and work together as an industry to move the needle forward. And I am looking so forward to getting into that role and doing what we can to improve our business and improve the sport."
