After an impressive performance in last weekend's Pepsi North America Cup, Foreclosure N is now being pointed to the prestigious Meadowlands Pace. If he keeps his form into the always-competitive 'Pace,' the Rocknroll Hanover colt could close on the winner's prize
.
In an article by The Kingston Whig Standard, Foreclosure N's trainer, Mark Steacy, discussed his charge's performance in the $1.5 million NA Cup. The Sylvain Filion-driven colt had received no luck in the post position draw for the Cup; and after having started conservatively from Post 10 he closed with a big effort to finish fourth and earn $120,000 for his troubles.
The Cup was won by the razor-sharp Western Terror colt Up The Credit for the father-son duo of trainer Carl Jamieson and driver Jody Jamieson in 1:49.3. For more on the NA Cup, click here.
The Kingston Whig Standard quoted Steacy as saying, "Our horse paced the last three-quarters (of a mile) in 1:20 flat. That's pretty impressive." He was also quoted as saying, "It was nice to see he can go with the big boys."
The report cites Steacy as saying that Foreclosure N was eligible to a New Jersey Sires Stakes event this coming weekend at the Meadowlands, but that he is considering entering the colt into a three-year-old open at Mohawk Racetrack. From there, Foreclosure N will be pointed to the 'Pace' eliminations on July 9 at the 'Big M.' The rich final of the Meadowlands Pace will be contested over the famed North Jersey oval on July 16.
"Our horse is pretty fresh and he is getting better and better," said Steacy, who was cited as saying that it is not confirmed whether Filion will be driving Foreclosure N while in New Jersey.
Steacy also comments on Big Jim and Up The Credit in the article.
