Pacing For Charity returns this Sunday (June 23) at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino. Now in its fourth year, the popular fundraising event, created by the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association, will once again feature three top drivers from Ontario with the 2019 edition welcoming two new faces.

Four-time Pacing For Charity participant James MacDonald will be joined by O'Brien Award finalist Bob McClure and rising star Colin Kelly, whose brother David Kelly is one of Century's top horsemen. MacDonald will drive for the Veterans Association Food Bank, McClure will support Sonshine Community Services while Colin Kelly is paired with Ronald McDonald House.

MacDonald was the star of the show in 2018, winning three races on the day.

"It was a great day...the weather was perfect, the track was in tip-top shape and they treated us great! Fortunately for me I had all the favourites and put a beating on Jody [Jamieson] and Doug [McNair]," said MacDonald with a smile. "We had fun and it’s for a great cause."

All three drivers are stepping up on a weekend with multiple opportunities at home. MacDonald and McClure are both active on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park and likely could have picked up multiple drives in the OSS action at Clinton Raceway on Sunday's Legends Day card. They're both flying into Alberta on Sunday, while Kelly will arrive the day before and is listed on horses for Century's Saturday card as well.

The same sacrifice can be said of the horsemen in Alberta who are stepping up with horses, and stepping aside for the Ontario drivers so that three local charities can benefit.
