The second leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund action for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings was completed Monday at Harrington Raceway with three $20,000 divisions.
The first division pitted a match-up between the class's two heavyweights, Bags To Riches and Daiymir, both of whom won their eliminations impressively last week.
When the dust settled, Daiymir ($2.80, Montrell Teague) was the victor via a controlling speed in 1:53.4 for trainer Clyde Francis and owner George Teague Jr. Bags To Riches sat in the pocket throughout and was second. Hallies Comet was a fast closing third. Daiymir, a son of Mr Wiggles, notched his fourth career win in seven lifetime starts.
In the second division, Tina Clark and Brian Clark's Automatic Dragon ($3.40, Victor Kirby) completed a sweep of his eliminations with a 1:54 triumph over Henry The Dragon and Wake Up And Go. Trained by Bobby Clark, the Art Director gelding was a front end winner for his fourth straight victory. It was one of five wins for Kirby.
The lone upset came in the final division as George Teague's Aint It Fun ($11.00, Montrell Teague) prevailed over the favourite James Isaac and Suspinder in 1:56.2. The winner was sired by Custard The Dragon and notched his third career win.
In the overnight feature, the $15,000 Delaware Special, Sean Bier and Joan Hamstead's Im Supersonic A ($12, Kirby) prevailed in 1:54.2 for trainer Crissy Crissman-Bier.
A rain storm hit the area after the fifth race and the balance of the program was run over a sloppy racetrack.
DSBF pacing fillies will complete their second leg in three divisions on Tuesday with trotters rounding out the week on Wednesday in four divisions.
