The Quebec Jockey Club has announced that live harness racing at Hippodrome de Quebec will be broadcast on the Internet and therefore, fans will be able to wager on these races
.
Thanks to an agreement with the Woodbine Entertainment Group and Roberts Communications, the races from Hippodrome de Quebec will broadcast on the betting website HorsePlayer Interactive, which began today, June 19, and it will be possible for HPI members to bet on Quebec races.
HorsePlayer Interactive is Canada's premier online and legal wagering service on horse racing and is supervised by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency.
The President of the Quebec Jockey Club, Tony Infilise, was happy to make this announcement.
"This is a step closer to reach our objectives. With HorsePlayer Interactive, the races from Hippodrome de Québec will be seen nationally, increasing the chances to raise one's betting income."
Former Montreal Canadiens GM, Serge Savard, a member of Quebec Jockey Club's Board, is also welcomed the decision.
"There is no doubt that we are in the right direction to revive horse racing in Quebec. We recognize that we must go step by step and climb one step at a time. But the one we have climbed is important."
The Hippodrome de Quebec will offering 20 programs from June 19, every Sunday at 1 p.m. until July 10 and will continue with two programs a week thereafter on Saturdays and Sundays, always at 1 p.m. Starting August 7, there will be a short break to allow the presentation of the Expo Quebec (Agricultural Exhibition) through September 3, when horse racing will resume every Saturday and Sundays until September 25.
