The winning streak is now three in a row and counting for veteran pacer Acceptable Risk, who took care of the eight foes he faced in Monday’s $11,000 Preferred #2 at Grand River Raceway.
Starting from Post 5 with driver Trevor Henry in tow, Acceptable Risk shot to the top and sliced out splits of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:27 before torching the final quarter in :27.3 en route to the two-length tally in 1:54.3. Button Up, who sat a pocket trip throughout the mile, was second best. Third prize went to First Rate Shark.
Sent off as the 2-1 second choice in the wagering, Acceptable Risk picked up his seventh win of the season for trainer Dan Morrissey. The nine-year-old son of Intrepid Seelster-Southernbound Lady is a now a 53-time winner who races for the partnership of David Morrissey, Dan McCann and William Woodburn. He’s banked more than $747,000 to date.
