According to a report by the CBC, Harness Racing PEI's former finance manager, Wade Crozier, wept in court today as he apologized for stealing from
the organization.
The report states that he apologized to his former co-workers, to his family and to his friends for the stress and the grief he has put them through. He said he was selfish and asked for their forgiveness. He also apologized to the courts and police for taking up their time.
Over the course of three years, from 2005 to 2008, Crozier wrote 83 cheques to himself, worth a total of $102,176.91. The money covered his income tax and two years of golf club membership fees.
The CBC article states that chief provincial court judge John Douglas said he needs some time to consider an appropriate sentence, and he will give his decision next Wednesday.
