Driver Sylvain Filion put the pedal to the metal early with HP Mama B in a $26,000 conditioned event Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the mare responded with a career-best score in 1:52.3.

In five days, she’ll look to be just as sharp as she takes on nine others in the $211,000 Armbro Flight Stakes at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.

HP Mama B charged to the top from Post 7 on Monday and she successfully whacked out fractions of :27.4, :56.3 and 1:24.1 before using a :28.2 final frame to seal the deal by a neck over Macallan in 1:52.3.  Only For Justice took home third prize.

Ben Baillargeon trains the homebred for Guylaine Picard and Celine Paquin.  The four-year-old daughter of Royalty For Life-Winters Jewel is a two-time winner this season from four assignments and a 12-time winner to date.  The OSS graduate has banked over $415,000 to date.

Monday’s card also featured the second leg of a Pop Up Series event for conditioned trotters, with Cool Clifford turning in a second consecutive victory in the event for trainer Gabby Sasso.

The six-year-old son of Kadabra-Cool Creek Breeze powered to the top from Post 5 for driver Bob McClure, and together they carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26 before sprinting home in :28.4 to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Overserved in 1:54.4.  Shoshie Deo was third.

Martwest Racing Stable and Jeff Courchesne share ownership on the 14-time winner who has banked over $276,000 in his career.

Westfiftysecond opted to bypass the opening leg of the series, and that left him under the gun to come up with a solid outing in Monday’s second-leg assignment.  It proved to be a test that he passed with flying colours.

Trevor Henry got away fourth with the 6-5 favourite, but he had him on the move on the way to the three-quarter pole.  Parked and pressing at that point, he took command at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.2 before scooting home in :28.4 to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Mystic in 1:55.1.  Shes Got Pizazz was third.

Trainer Darcy Clancy shares ownership on the six-year-old son of My MVY-Westfiftyfirst with Walter Clancy and Ryan Alport.  The gelding now owns a 3-1-1 record from 13 trips to the track this season.  To date, he’s a 10-time winner with earnings in excess of $200,000.
