HP Mama B Preps For Armbro Flight

In five days, she’ll look to be just as sharp as she takes on nine others in the $211,000 Armbro Flight Stakes at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.
HP Mama B charged to the top from Post 7 on Monday and she successfully whacked out fractions of :27.4, :56.3 and 1:24.1 before using a :28.2 final frame to seal the deal by a neck over Macallan in 1:52.3. Only For Justice took home third prize.

Monday’s card also featured the second leg of a Pop Up Series event for conditioned trotters, with Cool Clifford turning in a second consecutive victory in the event for trainer Gabby Sasso.
The six-year-old son of Kadabra-Cool Creek Breeze powered to the top from Post 5 for driver Bob McClure, and together they carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26 before sprinting home in :28.4 to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Overserved in 1:54.4. Shoshie Deo was third.

Westfiftysecond opted to bypass the opening leg of the series, and that left him under the gun to come up with a solid outing in Monday’s second-leg assignment. It proved to be a test that he passed with flying colours.

Parked and pressing at that point, he took command at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.2 before scooting home in :28.4 to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Mystic in 1:55.1. Shes Got Pizazz was third.
