It has been reported that Ohio racetracks are pondering joining forces to push for a ballot issue in 2011 which would ask for voters in the state to formally withdraw a casino bill which was recently signed by Governor Ted Strickland

.

An article by wlwt.com quotes David Paragas, a lobbyist for Ohio racetrack representative in the matter, Equine Agricultural Coalition, as saying, "we're exploring all of our legal and constitutional options."

According to the Ohio racetracks, the recently-signed bill sets rules for four planned casinos in the state. Officials with the racetracks believe that the implementation of casinos will further hurt them.

The article explains that the tracks would need more than 240,000 signatures to get the issue before voters, and that the bill signed by Strickland on Thursday, June 10 does not become law for 90 days, thus giving the tracks a window to circulate petitions.
