He was the North America Cup champion and O'Brien Award winner more than two decades ago. He sired Canada's 1998 Horse of the Year. He was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame at the beginning of the millennium. But where is he now?

To kick off its new "Where Are They Now?" series, Standardbred Canada tracked down the now 26-year-old Apaches Fame for an update on the horse that brought a bus load of fans from rural Ontario to the 1990 North America Cup and proved to the world that Canadian-bred horses are among the best.

It s so nice to see people that care about their animal and not just about their wallet!!!great documentary idea miss Mayotte cant wait to see the rest of it.

Great story, great horse, thanks for giving him a great life !

Very enjoyable....great time in racing, good job Brittney!! Looking forward to more.

What an awesome story... It's so nice to see the old fella so happy. Well deserved.

It's wonderful to know he's back at his home and is so well cared for. As a breeder/owner of one of his foals, it's nice to see he also passed on his speed and big heart.
He looks great and happy in his retirement.
Thanks Brittney for a heart warming story!

Great story - remember him well and always wondered what happened after he was finished with his breeding career.

Well done Brittney. Nothing like GREAT memories for us old horse lovers. Can't wait for more .

Great story Brittney :)

Looking forward to this series.

Thank you

Good to see Fame enjoying himself! I was fortunate to develop a mutual respect working with the horse and he'll always be one of my favorites.

To Brittney Mayotte,
Thank you for that wonderful documentary on Apaches Fame, hope to see some more documentaries on some of our great horses in the future and a special thank you to the Chapple family for re-paying this great horse with a place to live out the rest of his life in tranquility. Have a good day.

Love It!!!!
