Billy Davis Jr., who was involved in a racing accident Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack, is still recovering and will not be available for Saturday night's card at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.
“I’m pretty banged up,” said Davis on Saturday. “I can’t do too much today and it even hurts when I breathe. My doctor said to contact him if it gets worse, but I’m going to book off tonight."
Davis was steering Hope For Paddy in race seven last night when the pacing mare made a break in stride at the top of the stretch causing interference to the backfield and tossing her driver from the sulky.
The 26-year-old reinsman was able to walk off the track under his own power before being taken to hospital by EMS crew at Mohawk.
Hope For Paddy and the other horses and drivers in the race were not injured.
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Davis a full and speedy recovery.
