On Thursday (May 9) at Saratoga Casino Hotel, the Jose Godinez-trained and Bruce Aldrich Jr.-driven Westsluckycam captured the track’s $15,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace in 1:55.
The daughter of Camluck started from Post 5 in the six-horse feature and recorded a one-length win in what was a gate-to-wire performance. Westsluckycam returned $8.00 on a successful Win wager.
After having powered out to the lead, Westsluckycam set a sensible pace in the first lap. She paced her front half in in :57.4. She faced a brief challenge from a first-over rival (Queen Elsa, who was driven by Steve Genois) around the final turn, but kicked away in the stretch to record the win. Westsluckycam has now notched six wins this season.
The pocket-sitting Sandy Sue (Billy Dobson) finished second and Queen Elsa finished third.
