Caviart Ally, the 2017 Jugette winner, made her four-year-old pari-mutuel debut a victorious one on Wednesday (May 9) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, as the Bettors Delight lass was up to the task in the track’s $17,000 featured distaff pace.

After having started from Post 5 in the seven-horse affair, Caviart Ally, who had Andrew McCarthy aboard, went straight to the top and cut all the fractions (:28.1, :55.4, 1:23.3). She paced home in :27.1 and nailed the wire in 1:50.4. Caviart Ally, who was sent off at 30 cents on the dollar, pinned a four-length victory on her nearest rival, the Yannick Gingras-driven Bella Ragaza. Moments Of Joy, who had Victor Kirby in the bike, finished third.

Last season, Caviart Ally was the straight-heat winner of the Jugette, and also captured the Bluegrass along with two legs and the final of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes. Caviart Ally’s Wednesday win pushed her bankroll to $819,510.

The Wednesday card also offered a pair of $16,000 co-features – one on both gaits. In the pace, the Rock N Roll Heaven gelding Bunkdunk came up from the Delaware-Maryland circuit and promptly swept by the field late in 1:51.4. A winner of five straight prior to a loss before coming to Philly, Bunkdunk got back on the winning track Wednesday. Tony Morgan was in the sulky for trainer Brian Malone and owner Peter Paul Venturini.

Cantab Hall gelding Crystal Fashion showed no problems handling a six-month layoff and a tough two-move trip, as he defeated his trotting rivals with a two and three-quarter-length victory in 1:54.2. He was steered by driver Tim Tetrick for trainer Jim Campbell and Fashion Farms LLC.
