Spreester By A Schnoz

Spreester made the decisive move entering the final turn and had just enough to prevail in Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

With Show Runner on an easy lead and no outside flow developing, Aaron Merriman was content to save ground with Spreester until late in the mile. When the five-year-old daughter of American Ideal-Rodeo Spree attacked from third, she edged past Show Runner and found the wire a nose ahead of Medusa, who was narrowing the gap in the Lightning Lane, scoring in 1:52.4. Show Runner saved show.

Bill Bercury trains Spreester, who extended her career bankroll to $461,671, for Renee Bercury.

Tony Hall and Merriman each piloted three winners on the 14-race card.
