Windemere Skye will look to etch her name alongside two legendary pacers on Thursday, Nov. 5 as she chases her 28th consecutive victory at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 13-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m. with the undefeated sophomore pacing filly headlining the $6,350 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace in the 12th race.

Windemere Skye is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post two with Marc Campbell in the seat for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. and Matt Burke of Stratford, P.E.I. The daughter of Somewhere Fancy-Howmac Missy has won all 27 of her lifetime starts, including 15 victories this season, while banking $262,993 in career earnings. She was a dominant winner in her first appearance against aged mares last Thursday, controlling the fractions before drawing away by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:54.2.

A victory Thursday would tie the modern-era pacing record of 28 consecutive wins shared by dual Hall of Famer Cam Fella and Maritime legend Firms Phantom. The first 100 fans on track will receive a souvenir Windemere Skye hat.

Her main opposition includes Badgirl Bridgette (Jason Hughes) from post three for trainer Bill Lanigan and Brokeandoutofgas (Gilles Barrieau) from post five for trainer Tammy Collings. Windemere Saddy (Ken Murphy) leaves from post four for Saul Lanigan while Rosetown Mary, trained and driven by Corey MacPherson, has the rail.

The Post Time Picks has Windemere Skye on top of the five-horse field.

“Windemere Skye needs just one more win to join the rare air ranks of Firms Phantom and Cam Fella, and given her razor-sharp form, she’s poised to pull it off tonight. She has drawn inside and faces the same field she dismantled last week, so expect another dominant, gate-to-wire performance.”

The card also features a $6,050 Open Trot, with West River Jet the morning-line choice from post three for trainer-driver Ken Arsenault. Landon Campbell trainee Rina Labelle (Marc Campbell) and Whole Nother (Colin Sheppard), trained by Morgan Sheppard, are the second and third choices, respectively.

The $5,250 eighth-race conditioned pace for fillies and mares has Serenity Now as the morning-line favourite with Jason Hughes aboard for trainer Ashley Gamester. Freaky Fanny, from post two with trainer Darren Crowe aboard, and Tobins Brownie, from the rail with Adam Merner training and driving, are also contenders.
