Caras Allamerican turned back a challenge from last week’s winner, Slim N Sleek, and went on to post a 7-1 upset in Saturday’s $1,400 Winners Over Pace at Exhibition Park Raceway

.

With driver Mark Haig in the bike, Caras Allamerican jumped out to an early five-length lead from a Post 1 start by the :30.2 first quarter, but last week’s winner Slim N Sleek (Gilles Barrieau) reined him in during the second interval. Slim N Sleek advanced from over nine lengths back in fourth and held a slight advantage over Caras Allamerican at the half in 1:01. Refusing to surrender, Caras Allamerican dug in and gained back control before the 1:30.4 three-quarters mark. The nine-year-old Grinfromeartoear-Armbro Orleans gelding used a :29.3 final frame to secure the victory in 2:00.2 by 1-1/2 length.

Favourite Woodmere Bigsplash (Todd Trites) rallied off cover in the stretch but Slim N Sleek came back on for second with Armbro Comet (Gord Hennessey) closing well to show.

Caras Allamerican returned $17.70 to win as the 7-1 third choice in the field of five. Earl Fram trains the winner of three races in 10 starts this year for owner Gord White of Quispamsis, NB. Caras Allamerican has won 32 times over the course of his career while banking nearly $93,000.
