It has been reported that the Virginia Racing Commission has set a deadline for officials from the Virginia Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and the operators of Colonial Downs to reach an agreement for a 25-date Thoroughbred meet at the track in 2014.

According to an article by New Kent – Charles City Chronicle, the VRC has placed a May 19 deadline for a deal to be reached between the two parties.

The report has cited a member of the VHBPA’s public relations office as saying that the organization is willing to work for the best possible outcome, although the terms are not necessarily what the organization wants.

The Chronicle attempted to get a comment on the situation from a representative of Colonial Downs, but the The Chronicle’s calls and emails were not returned by the time of publication.
