It has been reported that Concord Associates and the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority have struck a deal which would see the erection of a $600 million racino and 258 room resort hotel on the old Concord Hotel property in upper New York State

.

Concord owner Louis Cappelli was quoted in an article on midhudsonnews.com as saying that his new partner brings an “unparalleled brand and expertise to the Concord team as well as its proven record of investment, development and operation of highly successful gaming and racing facilities in Connecticut and northeast Pennsylvania.”

While some politicians have lauded the news for its economic development and job creation aspects, Empire Resorts, which operates nearby Monticello Raceway, commented on the situation and stated that it would “vigorously oppose” any moves from either company to obtain racing licences.
