After enjoying a solid rookie season in 2021, Tie One On celebrated her first win of her sophomore season and in the process she established a national season’s record.
Tie One On went to the front and didn’t look back in an $18,000 conditioned assignment, and her clocking of 1:54.3 went down as a personal best and it labelled her as the nation’s quickest three-year-old trotting filly.
James MacDonald put the Harry Poulton-trained lass on the lead from Post 6 and the daughter of Bar Hopping-Twin B Alibi, who banked over $70,000 as a freshman, carved out fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:26.2 before using a :28.1 final frame to win by five lengths over Mr Zuanetti. Drinks At Home was third.
Sent off as the even-money favourite, the three-time winner upped her lifetime earnings to $81,812 for Thestable Tie One On of Guelph, Ont.
