Stepping back up to the Winners Over class after a blowout victory a notch below a week ago, Like A Glove dominated Truro Raceway's top pacers on Friday, May 30.

Trained and driven by Marc Whebby for owner Wayne Whebby, Like A Glove was heavily backed as the 1-9 favourite off his sharp 1:54.2 score last Friday night and delivered on his pari-mutuel promise with a gate-to-wire performance, setting splits of :29, 1:00.2 and 1:28.2 then pacing away to the 1:56.1 triumph.

Woodmere Ideal Art (Robert Laffin), who trailed Like A Glove by nearly 17 lengths in his season's debut last week, followed 4-1/2 lengths behind off a pocket trip this time out at long odds of 51-1. The 3-1 second choice, American Risk (Andrew Campbell), who had dominated the first three editions of the Winners Over class this year, tucked into third from his assigned outside post and held his position at the pylons.

Like A Glove, a four-year-old son of McWicked out of Twin B Virtue, now has two wins and a second-place finish from three outings at the Truro meet and boasts nine career victories from 38 starts with more than $71,000 in earnings.

Veteran pacer K D Overdrive's 1:57 victory earlier in the $2,000 seventh race marked multiple milestones. The 12-year-old Camystic-Stormy Sakra gelding recorded his 50th career win when he shot up the passing lane from the pocket to prevail by half a length at odds of 9-1 over pacesetter Good Friday Three (Jeff Ellis). Kyle Mason trains and drives K D Overdrive and the 31-year-old Moncton, N.B. horseman celebrated his first training triumph in 20 career starts. He also co-owns with Stephen Mason.
