Flamboro Downs closed out the meet on Thursday evening, May 30 with 10 races on tap for the finale.

Racing at the Dundas, Ont. oval returns on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Scott Coulter led all drivers with 79 wins and over $460,000 earned to claim the driving title for the meet. Samuel Fillion (69) was second with Travis Henry (61) third.

Gerard Demers took the 2024 training title with 47 wins and nearly $215,000 in earnings. With a win on the final card, Jodie Cullen (38) broke the tie to take second and Richard Moreau (37) completed the top three trainers by wins.

Two $8,000 Prospect Series splits for three-year-old pacing fillies went to the gate in races five and seven. In the first division, Henry guided Gregg McNair-trained Wheres My Phone ($3.50) to a 6-1/2-length romp in 1:56.1 while Well Assessed ($15.30) took the second division by a length in 1:55.3 with Coulter in the bike for Bob McIntosh.

There was an accident behind the gate of the card opener in which Tojenniferscredit (Travis Cullen) suffered a broken bit before the start. Driver Cullen came off the back of the bike while rail post Tojenniferscredit stayed on the gate. From post two, Jake Loewen (Daryl Thiessen) hooked wheels with the rail horse and Thiessen was unseated from the bike. Both horses were loose and scratched, but were determined to be okay after being examined by the veterinarian. Cullen was examined by EMS and cleared to drive while Thiessen was transported to the hospital for examination and treatment.

Thiessen shared in an update posted on social media that he sustained a broken pelvis and is undergoing further assessment.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Daryl Thiessen a full and speedy recovery.
