The connections of 28 three-year-old pacers have entered their charges to contest the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes this Saturday (June 2) at Woodbine Mohawk Park. A trio of divisions will head postward and will feature multiple ‘glamour boys’ eligible to the upcoming Pepsi North America Cup.

The $60,000 divisions have been carded as Race 5 (approximate post time 8:50 p.m.), Race 8 (9:50 p.m.) and Race 10 (10:30 p.m.). The 12-dash card will kick off with a first-race post time of 7:30 p.m.

The first division will feature the Casie Coleman-trained and Louis-Philippe Roy-driven Summer Travel. The up-and-coming Western Ideal colt won three of four races last year at two and is heading into Saturday’s tilt off of a 1:50.3, open-length victory in a conditioned event over the Campbellville, Ont. oval on May 24. Summer Travel, who will start from Post 10, is owned by West Wins Stable, Mac Nichol, and Calhoun Racing Ltd.

Im Gorgeous colt Lather Up, who was sharp in Mohawk’s conditioned ranks this past weekend, will look to record another standout performance in the Somebeachsomewhere on Saturday. The Clyde Francis-trained and Montrell Teague-driven bay paced in an upper-conditioned dash last weekend at Mohawk and won by almost eight lengths in 1:49.1.

Lather Up has won all three of his starts this season for his breeders, Gary and Barbara Iles. Lather Up will start from Post 5 in his nine-horse division.

The Dan Patch Award-winning Lost In Time will headline the last of the Somebeachsomewhere divisions and will start from Post 3 in the nine-horse contest. The Jimmy Takter-trained and Scott Zeron-driven Metro Pace winner just missed in his first pari-mutuel start of the season, which came on May 19 during Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. After having grinded first up in the PASS mile, Lost In Time just finished a nose short in second in what was a 1:50.4 mile. Lost In Time is owned by Diamond Creek Racing, J And T Silva Stables LLC, William Rufenacht, and (wooooo!) Ric Flair Stables.

Woodbine Mohawk Park will also be hosting a leg of The Graduate Series on Saturday evening. The series for four-year-old pacers and trotters will be visiting the Milton, Ontario racetrack for the third consecutive year.

The Graduate pacing division has attracted 16 entrants, split into two $60,000 divisions, while the trotting side will see one dash with an overflow field of 12 battling for $95,250.

The opening split for pacers includes Classic Pro (PP3, Sylvain Filion), last season’s O’Brien Award winner, and Miso Fast (PP8, Tetrick), a career winner of over $600,000. The second division features the Graduate Series debut of Beckhams Z Tam (PP3, Ricky Macomber Jr), who captured last year’s Breeders Crown at Hoosier Park and is a career-winner of more than $565,000.

The Graduate Trot has potential “race of the night” written all over it with a field of 12 to tango.

Superstar Ariana G (PP2, Gingras) is undefeated in six career starts at Woodbine Mohawk Park and comes into Saturday’s race off a victory in the first leg of the Graduate Series on May 19 at The Meadowlands.

Achille Duharas (PP7, Mario Baillargeon) captured the other division on May 19 and is six-for-nine this season with four wins at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The Graduate Series pacing splits have been carded as Races 3 and 9, while the trotting event will go as Race 7.
