Now a winner in six of his last seven, Write About Now made headlines once more as he scored in the $8,300 optional claiming feature on Tuesday, May 27 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Leaving from post seven with owner and trainer Donald Rankin in the bike, Write About Now got away third early while Letjimitakeover (Daryl Thiessen) raced around Bettim Alive (Garrett Rooney) through a quarter of :28. A revved up Write About Now was fed racetrack from third crossing the line the first time through a half of :58 before powering clear of Letjimitakeover at three-quarters in 1:26.3.
Write About Now turned for home with the lead, while Jusk Ask Joe (Tyler Borth) gave pursuit between horses. Just Ask Joe continued to close in the lane, but would not reach Write About Now as he won by a half-length in 1:56.2. Convey Twenty Two (Damian Maclellan) sustained a three-wide rally around the final turn to be third.
Write About Now has won half of his 12 outings on the year and is a 13-time winner for his career. The four-year-old gelded son of Sportswriter-Cant Stop has earned $54,859 in his career.
