A pair of incumbent Progressive Conservative MPPs recently visited racetracks in their ridings and offered comments on the horse racing industry.
As a video report by the CBC explains, Nepean-Carleton PC MPP Lisa MacLeod was at the Rideau Carleton Raceway this past weekend and discussed how, if elected, the Ontario PC Party would re-introduce an amended version of the Slots at Racetracks program.
“I wanted to let my constituents know that Tim Hudak’s plan will restore the Slots at Racetracks program – will fix it to make it more accountable,” MacLeod said. “But we are going to ensure that, as we move forward, we are not going to destroy rural economies.”
MacLeod went on to say, “There is not a farmer here that wants to be subsidized – they want to compete. They want to be part of that market, and what we are suggesting is that we can bring back that market with a good private-public partnership arrangement – similar to what existed, but better.”
On Monday, MPP Bob Bailey (Sarnia-Lambton) was at the Hiawatha Horse Park and provided comments to Blackburn News. To listen to Bailey’s comments, click here.
