Electric Oui, driven by Eric Goodell, matched Yonkers Raceway's 19-year-old, all-age track record Saturday night, winning the $22,000 fourth-race pace in 1:50.4
.
He now shares a place with Silver Almahurst (Jim Morilll Jr.), whose number--taken in the (Apr. 24) final of the 1993 George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series--had stood since the first Clinton administration.
Electric Oui, the 1-2 favourite, was sitting a loose pocket as Dallenbach Hanover (Jordan Stratton) set sail through fractions of :26.4, :54.4 and 1:22.1. "Dallenbach" had a two-length lead into the lane, but the timer took its toll.
Electric Oui ($3.10) went by late, winning by a length for a share of the all-age record. The new shared track record-holder is a five-year-old Kilowatt gelding owned by Tom Ceraso Jr. and trained by Jack Franklin.
Saturday night's featured $36,000 Open Handicap Pace was won by pole-sitting Whackamole Hanover (Brent Holland) in 1:51, matching his personal best. Bettor Design (Goodell) was second--beaten three and a quarter lengths--with Flipper J (Cat Manzi) third.
"Whackamole," a five-year-old son of Cams Card Shark trained by Tony Alagna for co-owners David Rovine, Joel Benson and John Fodera, returned $9.40 as the third choice.
