Bontz N continued her dominance in the distaff pacing ranks at Saratoga Casino Hotel with a seasonal best 1:53.4 score in Wednesday's (May 26) featured $10,000 conditioned event for mares.
Shawn Gray flashed enough speed with the versatile 10-year-old daughter of American Ideal to secure the pocket behind long shot Lyons Girlhanover (Larry Stalbaum) through sizzling fractions. Bontz N pulled the pocket heading to three-quarters, and though Lyons Girlhanover was tiring a bit, she fought gamely despite being passed by Bontz N, who found another gear in the stretch to push clear and win by three-quarters of a length. Misty Memory N (Jimmy Devaux) rallied from off the pace for second; Lyons Girlhanover held for third.
Gary Levine trains Bontz N, whose bankroll passed the quarter-million dollar mark, for April Aldrich.
Live racing at Saratoga resumes on Monday afternoon (May 31), with the Memorial Day card set to kick off at 12 noon.
