Looking Hanover just made it over the $1 million earnings mark with a close victory this weekend at Yonkers Raceway.
The eight-year-old Muscles Yankee gelding prevailed by half a length in a $27,500 trot on Friday night to push his earnings over the milestone mark to $1,002,581 for trainer Edwin Gannon Jr. and owners Dawn Gannon and Yannick Gingras.
Sent postward as the race favourite, the Brian Sears-driven Looking Hanover ($4.10) picked up cover from fourth and rallied three-wide to wear down veteran Grain Of Truth, another millionaire pacer, in 1:59 flat over the sloppy surface. Rookie Mistake finished over three lengths behind in third.
The win was Looking Hanover's second in 12 starts this year and 29th lifetime.
