Out well before the half, Bessie pressed first over and wore down the leader to capture the Tuesday (May 21) feature at The Meadows: an $11,500 Filly & Mare Conditioned Trot.
While Missions Delight refused to go down easily on the front, Bessie persevered for driver Tony Hall and scored in 1:55.4. Firm To Stay rallied for second second, three-quarter lengths back, while EZ Passer shot through the open stretch for show.
Rick Clapper trains Bessie, an eight-year-old daughter of Equinox Bi-Cantab’s Chorine who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $459,345, for Paula Clapper, Umholtz Racing Stable and Kennedy Sports Corp.
Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card.
