Veteran reinsman Brad Kramer entered Friday’s card at Hazel Park needing just a pair of wins to join the 7,000-win club, and it didn’t take him long to achieve the milestone
.
Kramer, who hails from Lennon, Michigan, captured the fourth race trot with Big Strike – a horse from his own barn. The three-year-old son of Striking Sahbra marched to the front and turned aside six foes en route to the 1:58.2 tally.
Just four races later the Ginny St. Charles-trained High Jacked towed Kramer to a 1:57.1 victory, and in doing so Kramer celebrated the 7,000th victory of his career.
Kramer, who made his pari-mutuel driving debut in 1981, went 3-for-10 in his rookie year. Since then he has driven in more than 38,000 races while hitting the board in more than 18,000 of them. He has racked up more than $29.4-million along the way, and he has banked more than $1-million for fifteen consecutive seasons.
