Super Soph beat four other distaffers to star in the $9,000 Fillies and Mares Open 2 Pace at Tioga Downs on Friday night (May 19).

Super Soph, a seven-year-old Admirals Galley mare, went right to the front for driver Mike Merton. She hit the first quarter in :27.3 and never looked back, winning gate-to-wire in 1:52.1. Super Soph paid $14.60 for the upset win. A Wish For Wings (John Cummings Jr.) followed in the pocket the whole way and finished two and a half lengths back in second. Kruella (Mike Simons) was third.

Owned by Mark Wamp and trained by Todd Buter, Super Soph picked up her first win of the year and 42nd lifetime.

Tioga Downs is scheduled to start its 10-race card at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, but will follow the live showing of the Preakness.
